How long does it take to study industrial engineering?

The bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering has duration of 5 years according to the plan of study.

How much is it?
Purchase of tools or special equipment is not required, so the cost is only the tuition. Currently, the cost per credit is 10450 colones (around $19), paying a maximum of 12 credits per semester. In addition, the UCR has a system of Scholarships and Fringe Benefits which provides:

  • Discounts on tuition based on the scholarship assigned
  • Book lending system
  • Fringe Benefits: financial assistance, food service, residence, etc

What about the process of admission to Industrial Engineering?
Every year, the places available are filled with the students with the highest grades for admission. The grade for admission corresponds to the lowest admission grade among the admitted students in a given year.

Where is it taught?

The major is fully taught at the following headquarters from the University of Costa Rica:

  • Rodrigo Facio Headquarters (San Pedro de Montes de Oca)
  • West Headquarters (San Ramón)
  • Interuniversity Headquarters (Alajuela)
