Postgraduate Program in Industrial Engineering at the University of Costa Rica

This postgraduate program offered by the School of Industrial Engineering is supported by the quality and prestige of the University of Costa Rica. It offers to the students a series of specialized courses that will guide them to areas of manufacturing and administration engineering.

The Master’s degree of Engineering is aimed to the advanced training of professionals in Industrial Engineering or related subject areas that meet the eligibility criteria and leveling requirements established by the system Postgraduate Studies of the University of Costa Rica. The Master's program has been structured according to the academic and administrative guidelines established by the National Council of Rectors (CONARE), and regulated by the Estatuto Orgánico and the General Rules of Postgraduate Studies System (SEP) at the University of Costa Rica. Its main features are:

  • Academic Master in Industrial Engineering is notable for being the only one in the country in this area since 1994. This Mastery prepares professionals for having a high level of research which allows the students to obtain the Master of Science’s degree.
  • Professional Master with specialization in Industrial or Manufacturing and Quality Management
  • A two-year duration, with fourth-month long, with a total of 64 hours for each course that is taught
  • General courses that provide the students a theoretical and practical overview of the key topics in the area of ​​Industrial Engineering
  • Courses of analysis which are primarily aimed to the knowledge of the implementation of methods in solving real problems in the productive sector of goods and services in Costa Rica.
  • Specific courses that will shape the profile of knowledge which students must master to be admitted within the specialized area of their choice.
  • Final research project that strengthens the students' skills in the analysis and improvement of specific situations

Methodology

The methodology used to teach the courses related to the programs of academic and professional master are the following:

  • Research work that allows to study the development of art on different areas of interest in the country and outside the country
  • Research project that allows the students to contribute to the advancement of knowledge or problem-solving within the field of Industrial Engineering and its many applications in production and service organizations in the country.

The Master provides the possibility of obtaining a postgraduate degree in two categories:

Professional Master in Industrial Engineering which offers the mentions in Industrial Management, Manufacturing and Quality Management, and Environmental Management.

Academic Master in Industrial Engineering is notable for being the only one in the country in this area since 1994. Due to its characteristics, this Mastery focuses on a professional with a high level of research, which allows the students to obtain the Master of Science.

Master's programs in Industrial Engineering offer the professional a total of 64 hours for each course that is taught.
